Employees & Burn-out

For organizations

What PSR can mean for employers and employees

A burn-out is a serious and common problem that affects both employees and employers. The consequences of burn-out are significant and can lead to high costs for organizations. At PSR we provide specialised and high-quality support to prevent long-term absence and treat burn-out, improving both productivity and well-being in the workplace.

The impact on organizations

  • Prevalence: In 2021, 17% of the Dutch working population experienced burn-out and chronic stress complaints, which amounts to 1.7 million people.

  • Costs: An average burn-out costs an organization approximately €60,000 due to long-term absenteeism due to illness. For higher income groups, this amount can exceed €120,000.

  • Reduced productivity: Prior to a burn-out, employees often experience stress, reduced resilience and a decrease in job and life satisfaction, which leads to a decline in productivity and quality of work.

  • Late intervention: After an Occupational Health and Safety Doctor has diagnosed a burn-out, it takes on average at least three months before the first intervention takes place.
